Well, all those who are waiting for Karan Johar’s next directorial venture “Student of the Year” to release are in for a delight. The film is set to hit the big screens on October 19th this year.
The comedy stars newbies Siddharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. Johar recently tweeted, “STUDENT OF THE YEAR will release on the 19th of OCTOBER 2012… it launches 3 newcomers… Sidharth Malhotra…. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt.”
Kajol and Boman Irani are guest appearing. Boman Irani’s son, Kayoze is also making his acting debut with the film. The film is produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar.

Video - Student Of The Year trailer,Student Of The Year,videos,In a throwback to his Kuch Kuch Hota Hai days, Karan Johar comes up with a youth flick set in a high school and featuring an interesting bunch of characters. The film is Student Of The Year and here is its first trailer. SOTY introduces three newcomers: Siddharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. The story is set in St. Teresa High School in Dehradun, an education institution boasting of the state-of-the-art facilities: swimming pools, treadmills, playgrounds, running tracks, and swanky class rooms. Siddharth Malhotra plays Abhimanyu, a righteous, self-dependent student who doesn’t believe in taking favours to foot the bills of his education. Alia Bhatt plays Shanaya, a pretty damsel who’s not turned on by the idea of cheerleading for the boys with pom-poms in her hands. Varun Dhawan plays a somewhat cocky Rohan. The three are friends until the ‘Student Of The Year’ competition is declared open by the tubby principal, played by Rishi Kapoor. Thereafter begins the game of one-upmanship, and friends turn foes in order to win the competition. The movie looks like a youth flick with perhaps a shade or two of Aamir Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. Student Of The Year is directed by Karan Johar and produced jointly under Johar’s Dharma Productions and Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The film’s music is by Vishal-Sherkhar.
